Web 2.0 Expo Wrapup

It’s been a week since I posted, largely since I’ve been immersed in the event that was Web 2.0 Expo (and associated events, particularly Tara Hunt and Chris Messina’s Web 2.Open conference, a bar camp inspired event in and around the main conference).

Microformats got plenty of love, with many a mention, and several sessions covering them in considerable detail.

Alex Faaborg, whose work with microformats and Firefox 3 I’ve made reference to previously on this site talked about that concept in detail. He’s posted a wrapup at his blog.

Kevin Lawver, who recently got the heavily microformatted Ficlets collaborative fiction community up and running over at AOL spoke similarly on how microformats are becoming part of the browser experience.

My own presentation, Microformats, More than Just Promise, pretty much filled its room of around 400 people (with quite a few sitting on the floor). The slides are available online now (PDF).

There was also a microformats session at the associated open conference.

About 30 of us got together at the thirsty bear for a microformats dinner, thanks in particular to Magnolia and Larry Hallf, where the idea of POSH, now making waves across the web, was discussed in detail. More on this soon.

All in all, a great week for microformats.

Just read through the slides this morning. Looks like it was a good presentation - and sounds like you had quite a crowd.
